The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced traffic disruption on a section of Thika Road at Juja High Point from Wednesday 10th July 2024 to Monday 15th July, 2024. This is to allow for construction of a midspan footbridge foundation.
Vide a Public Notice, dated 9th July 2024, the Authority stated, “The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to inform the public that a section of Thika Superhighway (A2) at Juja High Point will experience traffic disruption on the inner lane of Thika bound traffic from Wednesday July 10, 2024 to Monday July 15, 2024 .”

KENHA further stated that the disruption on Thika Road would be to allow for construction of a midspan footbridge foundation and advised motorists to follow the proposed traffic management plan outlined in the notice and cooperate with the police and traffic marshalls on site.
The notice comes just a few days after KENHA issued a notice for the the closure of a section of Mombasa Road (A8) to allow for highway maintenance works at the section between Salama and Sultan Hamud, Mombasa bound lanes.
Thika Road Footbridges
Following the construction of the Thika Super Highway during Kibaki era, there were reports that the road lacked footbridges at various areas that needed them. Over the years, KENHA has erected footbridges on the road gradually facing out Pedestrian crossing points and bumps on the busy highway in places such as Drive Inn, Garden City, Jomoko among others.
