Motorists have been paying the toll by cash only with those having ETC cards having the toll automatically deducted from their cards. It In January 2022, the Nairobi Expressway allowed motorists to pay tolls via mobile money (MPesa). was officially opened by Immediate Former President Uhuru Kenyatta on 31st July 2022.
