DT Dobie Hands 50 Volkswagen Tiguan to the DCI

#SpaceYaMagari

Car assembler DT Dobie handed over a fleet of 50 brand-new Volkswagen Tiguan Allspace SUVs to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) which will boost the Government agency’s service delivery to the public. The vehicles are locally assembled by DT Dobie.

The DCI is getting the vehicles via the Government’s vehicle leasing plan which the Government has adopted in the recent past in place of actually buying the vehicles. These specific vehicles are handed to the DCI in a joint lease venture incorporating Rentco Africa with financing from Stanbic Bank.

It has been stated that vehicle leasing saves the Government a lot of money as compared to actually buying as it is the lessor who services the vehicles. Once the lease expires, the cars are then sold to the public. Recently, vehicles leased to the NTSA and security agencies specifically Peugeot saloon cars and Nissan Patrol Y61 pickups were put on sale following the expiry of the vehicle leasing agreements.

Some members of the public have criticized the leasing program saying that the Government is spending more than the purchase price to lease the vehicles.

We at spaceyamagari.com shall soon elaborate in detail on how the Government Vehicle Leasing Program works.
