Isuzu Kenya yesterday revealed plans of what they are referring to as 1:59 Special, a limited edition Isuzu D-Max Double Cab Truck to be unveiled in honor of marathon runner and Olympic champion Eliud Kipchoge.

The 1.59 name emanates from being the only athlete to ever run a marathon in sub two hours where he clocked 1:59:40. The said marathon was organized by the British Company, INEOS, had organized marathon.
Isuzu Kenya has been one of Eliud Kipchoge’s main sponsors. During the unveiling, he said that Isuzu has been part of the system that has helped him to walk and encouraged other corporates to follow the company’s example and promote sports in the Country.
Rita Kavashe, Isuzu MD said that the vehicle will have ‘special features’ and revealed that they will engage their followers on social media for comments on the type of features the vehicle should have. Currently, the company has not announced the specific features that the vehicle will have.
During the reveal, it was noted that only 159 of the limited edition vehicles would be produced and Eliud would be honored by driving the very first one with 001 number plates. Kenyans seeking to buy the vehicles were encouraged to make their bookings early as the vehicles would be sold on a first-come-first-served basis.
