Fuel Prices and the Finance Bill 2024
The decrease in fuel prices comes a day after the Treasury Cabinet Secretary, Prof. Njuguna Ndungu read the budget for the financial year 2024/2025. It also comes in the same week when Transport CS, Kipchumba Murkomen proposed a plan to increase the Petroleum Development Levy from KES 18 to KES 25. This would mean that fuel prices would have to rise by at least KES. 7 to 9 per litre. The announcement comes in the wake of the online campaign dubbed #RejectFinanceBill2024 .
