President Dr. William Ruto has officially unveiled Isuzu East Africa’s new Electro-Deposition (ED) Paint plant at the company’s Plant on Mombasa Road. The paint plant uses electro-deposition technology for the efficient painting of vehicles. The plant is the first of its kind in the country.
This adds to the heavy investment that Isuzu East Africa has set up over the past few years in an effort to increase its production capacity while ensuring quality standards are upheld. Isuzu East Africa’s Managing Director Rita Kavashe reiterated the company’s commitment to double its production of commercial vehicles and consequently create over 10,000 jobs in two years. She stated that the company has spent over Kenya Shillings 1 billion to upgrade its facilities consisting of a Dynamic Test Center, a Water Leak Test Booth, a new pickup assembly line, and the Electro-Deposition (ED) Paint plant.
Further, Rita Kavashe urged for the expedition of the enactment of the National Automotive Policy into law. She said that the policy will pave the way for the formation of the National Automotive Council to be responsible for scaling up the local Automotive Industry for export.
The President on his part stated that the National Automotive Policy has created a conducive environment for firms to set up in Kenya. He also said that the Government’s plan is to have more assemblers set up shop in the country and operate at full capacity for Kenya to supply Africa with competitive units.
The President said this will create more jobs, enhance skills development, and reliable mobility. Dr. Ruto later toured the facility and interacted with the recently launched Kipchoge Limited Edition Isuzu D-Max.
