Electric Bus company, Basi-Go has launched a new app christened Jani. The app is designed for daily commuters in Nairobi. The Company stated that it launched the app in line with its mission to make the E-bus commute experience accessible, seamless, and stress-free for passengers. Basi-Go partnered with Nairobi’s biggest bus operators to offer passengers a hassle-free commuting experience.
Jani App Concept
The name Jani is a Swahili word which means a leaf. It is a creative way for the company to showcase its commitment to green energy since a leaf is green. Further, it can be construed to be a corruption of the English word Journey. The pronunciation of the words “Journey” and “Jani” are almost similar. It can be construed to mean that passengers enjoy a “green journey” or they enjoy their journey in a bus promoting green energy.
The app is a booking app for electric buses that brings convenience and ease to the daily commute. With the app, passengers can easily book their seats for an electric bus right from their smartphone. It’s simple, it’s cashless. A passenger easily selects their preferred pick up and drop off locations and the nearest bus is shown to them.
Currently, Jani bookings are available for BasiGo Electric Buses operated by Embassava Sacco on the Nyayo Estate-CBD route with Embassava Sacco. Basi-Go has stated that they are looking forward to adding more routes to the App in the coming weeks.
