The Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) has announced a temporary closure of a section of Uhuru Highway (A8) between Harry Thuku Road and University Way (Mombasa Bound) from Friday 8 March to Midnight on Sunday 10th March, 2024 to pave the way for highway maintenance works.
In a statement, released on 7th March, KENHA stated, “The Kenya National Highways Authority wishes to notify the public that there will be a temporary closure of a section of Uhuru Highway (A8) between Harry Thuku Road and University Way (Mombasa Bound) from 11:00 p.m. on Friday March 8, 2024 to Midnight on Sunday March 10, 2024. This is to allow for high way maintenance works at this section.”
Further, KENHA advised all motorists accessing Uhuru Highway (A8) from Kenyatta Avenue to use alternative routes such as Harry Thuku Road and University Way. “Motorists using this road are advised to approach the section with caution and to follow the traffic signs and guidance in place as shall be directed by Police and Traffic Marshall on site.” read the last statement signed by Engineer Ndungu, MBS, the Director General at KENHA.
Uhuru Highway
Uhuru Highway is the road that connects Waiyaki Way to Mombasa Road at the Nyayo Stadium Roundabout. It is part of the road where the Express Way passed through together with Mombasa Road and Waiyaki Way.
