The National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) has issued an alert to the public via its official X account (@ntsa_kenya), alerting the public of a fraudulent website masquerading as an official NTSA service provider. The alert flagged mverified.co.ke as a scam website that is NOT AFFILIATED with the Authority. The platform has reportedly been used to con members of the public seeking motor vehicle copy of records and ownership verification services.
According to the alert, the fraudulent site closely mimics official government platforms, presenting itself as a quick and convenient alternative for vehicle searches. Unsuspecting users are prompted to input vehicle details and make payments, after which they either receive inaccurate information or no service at all. In some cases, victims may also unknowingly expose sensitive personal or financial data. An image of the fake site’s homepage, which imitates legitimate NTSA branding and claims to offer vehicle ownership search services was shared.

The alert was amplified by quoting an earlier post from user @zeihan_imran, who shared a screenshot of the scam site’s homepage and labeled it a “FRAUD WEBSITE ACTING AS NTSA.” The fake platform mimics legitimate NTSA interfaces, complete with options for motor vehicle copy of records search, luring unsuspecting users with promises of quick and easy access to records.

A spotcheck on mverified.co.ke has revealed that the site charges KES. 940/- for a “verify a logbook online” service which is about KES. 400/- higher than what is charged by the National Transport and Safety Authority. Additionally, the said site reveals that the results of the “motor vehicle search ” will be conveniently sent to the requestor’s SMS and E-mail.

NTSA’s Advisory
The Authority has categorically stated that mverified.co.ke is not authorised to provide any of its services. Further, it advised members of the public who may have already fallen victim to the said site to report the matter immediately at the nearest police station.
The Authority has reiterated that there is only one legitimate process for obtaining a motor vehicle copy of records or conducting a vehicle ownership search in Kenya, which is through thier portal on the e-citizen platform.
How to Do a Legitimate Vehicle Search
To conduct a vehicle search in Kenya, please follow the following steps;
- Log into e-citizen.go.ke
- Navigate to the NTSA Service Portal serviceportal.ntsa.go.ke
- Pay the requisite fee of KES. 550/- via the eCitizen account
- Instantly get the motor vehicle search results.

Kindly note that any platform requesting payment outside eCitizen, charging different fees, or claiming special access to the National Transport and Safety Authority’s records is not legitimate.
We at Space Ya Magari, urge motorists, dealers and automotive enthusiasts to exclusively use the official eCitizen platform to conduct motor vehicle searches.
